2001
I was a Computer
Science Lecturer for Degree & PG Students at S Ch College
in Maddirala.
Previously,
(BCA Final year) first batch Students have shown excellent progress, in
execution of their Projects.
To make next
batch Students get ready, I went to their classroom, and explained about the
Project execution plan to them. But
there were no more doubts from Students.
Because, they already known about their seniors’ approach/performance. Few of them were helped their seniors also.
During
Computer Lab hours, Students have given their Team details. I have observed few Teams with one person. Later, I have asked about Project details
from each Team. Whoever not having any
Project idea, I have given (Java) Project ideas for them. Most of the Teams have selected GUI (Graphical
User Interface) Projects, in Java and VB (Visual Basic).
From a
Team, Mr. Ramesh came to meet me.
He mentioned that he has selected KBC (Kaun Banega CrorePati)
as his (Team) Project. He wanted to do
it in VB. I have appreciated his
choice. I said “I know about KBC,
but not watched many times.”. During our
conversation, our BCA Staff Prof. Pitchaiah said “I have watched KBC,
since it begins. Even I am trying to get
participated in it.”. Then, I have
requested Prof. Pitchaiah to be as a mentor for Mr. Ramesh Team. He was very happy with my suggestion.
After
seeing more enthusiasm from Students, all BCA Staff Members were spending more
time with them. For that, I have
assigned some of the Teams to each Staff Member (as a Team Mentor).
Then,
all Teams have started preparing Project implementation Plan, i.e., approach.
Mr.
Ramesh (and his Team) came with KBC implementation
plan (i.e., video/audio, images, etc.).
He asked our advice.
I said
“If you depend on videos, it looks like watching original KBC in Computer. It shouldn’t be like that.”. Prof. Pitchaiah also said “Yes. People may think that, you have recorded the
original KBC; and then playing it in Computer.”. Our discussion went in the similar way, till
we got it to some conclusion.
Thus,
all Teams were busy in implementing their Project Work.
⭐
In
September, Mr. Ramesh has called us for his project demo, with three
screens; and explained as “Sir…!
Ø First
screen, KBC Introduction animated image with
background music; and it ends with welcome note by (KBC Anchor) Mr.
Amitab voice.
Ø Later, second
screen is the main project screen.
It is as similar as (Mr. Amitab’s) computer screen in original KBC.
Ø Mr.
Amitab voice/audio will be played; during ‘each question
as First/Next/Last Question, each stage (out of three stages), and for
(three) lifelines narration’.
Ø Background
music during Mr. Amitab voice/audio and each Question display.
Ø Time
duration for each question; and later, lifelines narration.
Ø Final, third
screen is about (prize-money) wishes for the (loser/winner) participant;
with RePlay button.
Here, questions were stored in DataBase; and those were selected
randomly.”.
Prof.
Pitchaiah said “Questions to be displayed based on the category
(i.e., Education, Environment, Entertainment, Sports, Political, etc.); at three
stages of complexity (i.e., simple, better, tough).”.
Mr.
Ramesh said “Sure Sir…!”.
I said “At
end, you better to create another DataBase with few selected questions (for those,
answers are well-known). Whenever you
are giving KBC Demo for VIP, you can execute the project with that
second DataBase. So that, they can watch
the Demo till end.”.
Mr.
Ramesh said “Sure Sir…!”.
Later, I
said “From three Lifelines (i.e., 50:50, Phone a Friend, Audience
Poll), how are you going to manage ‘Phone a Friend’ lifeline
execution ?”.
Mr.
Ramesh said “Sir…! We
don’t have phone facility in our Computer Lab.
So, there is a slightly change in ‘Phone a Friend’ lifeline
execution process, as of now. Instead of
making a phone call, Anchor will ask the participant to get help, from any
(only) one person, from audience.”.
All
Staff Members were smiled; and agreed for his spontaneous answer. In fact, Mobiles were also very less, in
those days.
Mr.
Ramesh’s KBC project Demo was excellent. His (Team) progress was created the
sportiveness for other Teams.
⭐
In
October, Mr. Ramesh has completed the functionality of the project. He was working hardly in getting audio
records with best quality. He was doing
many trails. YouTube was not available
in those days.
⭐
In last
week of November, almost all projects came to end. Students were working hardly in completion of
their projects. They were coming to
Computer Lab, during lunch time also.
They have minimized their lunch time from an hour to few minutes.
⭐
In
December, Students have started preparing project reports.
Finally,
Mr. Ramesh was ready with his KBC project. It was wonderful with multimedia
visuals.
Prof.
Pitchaiah said “It’s really great… Mr. Ramesh. You can’t claim the ownership of the KBC;
but you can still do it, as your academic project. This KBC project shows your capability
in implementation of the project, by just seeing it.”.
I said “It’s
really amazing. You are going to become celebrity,
now onwards”.
Other BCA
Staff members (Prof. Naganjaneyulu, Prof. Sheshi R, Prof. Ramesh, etc.) were also
appreciated Mr. Ramesh for his best performance.
Then this
(KBC project) news was spread in entire college. From other Departments, Staff were coming to
our Computer Lab, to watch the Demo of the project.
⭐
In last
week of December, I have invited our College Principal to our Computer
Lab, to give the Demo of all (Students’) projects.
I have
chosen KBC project as last demo, for the Principal.
As Principal
was already having idea about original KBC, he was enjoyed a lot with
this KBC Demo. Mr. Ramesh
has selected second DataBase (with well-known Q&A) for this Demo. Principal has answered to almost all
questions. In between, he took Students’
help. At end (wishes screen), Principal
said “Who is going to give 1 Crore, now ?”. Students said “Project is executed in
this college premises. So, Head of the
College will give .”. All were laughed a
lot, happily. 😊😊
Principal
has wished all the Students, for their performance in completion of
projects.
After
this incident, Principal has mentioned about Students achievement (with their
projects) in the Staff meeting. 💥 Then, Mr. Ramesh became celebrity in the
college. ⭐
⭐
In
January 2002…, on one day…, during lunch-time…, when I was in meeting with
Students, few Students have expressed pity 😞😞 about KBC
project, by saying “Sir…! We are all
worked hardly, in completion of our projects.
But everyone is asking about KBC project, in our college. From all projects, KBC project only
became popular. There is a lot of
analysis and hard-work in our projects also.
When compare to that, KBC project is not very tough.”.
I said “The
original KBC is already popular; due to prize-money, GK (General
Knowledge) questionary, and Celebrity/Anchor/Moderator Mr. Amitab.
This KBC
also became very popular, due to multimedia visuals and much more similarity
with original KBC. Especially, everyone
was mesmerized with Mr. Amitab voice; and felt that they were
participating in the original KBC.
The
functionality of the KBC project might not be very tough, technically.
But, do
you know… how much difficult Mr. Ramesh was faced in getting multimedia visuals
?”.
No
answer. Pin-drop silent.
Then, I
said “Mr. Ramesh was worked hardly in getting audio records; from TV, to Tape-Recorder,
and then to softcopy with converters. In
between, many trails. Finally, he
achieved it. Now, this project looks
like original KBC. He has given
project’s status to us, at each and every stage.
Let us think,
if there is no (this) KBC project, who will talk about your batch ? Who will think about your technical
difficulty ? In fact, your seniors have
made many best projects. But they didn’t
become (this) much popular.
Because
of Mr. Ramesh KBC project, your batch became very popular, not only in
this entire college, in our town also. In
our town, other College Staff are also asked about this KBC
project.
Principal
has mentioned about your batch (with all projects) in Staff meeting. Because of KBC project, he has
highlighted all other projects. He is
going to invite University Board Member (probably Vice-Chancellor)
to our college, on 26th January, for the Republic Day
celebrations; and then, wanted to give Demo of all your projects. Are you all… ready ?”.
After
listening to this, Students were surprised, and said “Yes…! Sir…!”.
Then, I
said “Greatness may start with only one person.
Later, it spreads its flavor to all.
You are not supposed to neglect that person.”.
Students’
pity was converted to happiness. Then
they felt very happy. 😊😊
At the
same time, Mr. Ramesh has entered in to the Computer Lab.
Everyone
has wished him a lot. Then Students
said “Because of your KBC project, our Principal is going to invite our University
VC to our college.”.
Then the
entire Computer Lab was echoed with claps. 😊😊
Thus, Mr.
Ramesh said “I was able to completed this KBC project; with my Team
members’ sincere involvement, under the guidance of our Sir, with the
advices of our Team Mentor Prof. Pitchaiah, and with the support of all BCA
Staff’. Then the echo of claps
was continued. 😊😊
Later, Prof.
Pitchaiah said “Sir…! You have
resolved sensitive matter peacefully… and wonderfully…!”. I just smiled in response. ☺
On 26-JAN-2002, our college Staff & Students were celebrated Republic Day, with University Board Member.
KBC project became an icon of all three BCA batches. ⭐
